Making labels from Framelits

I have been having fun with the new Framelit Dies that are in the Summer Mini Catalogue.

On Friday evening I had eight ladies over for a class where we used the Framelits along with some of the other new product from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

As well as three cards, I had planned that we make a small treat holder – I had seen one on Monica Gale’s blog but changed it somewhat by using a different stamp set, paper etc.  Because we had so much fun making the cards we ran out of time to do the Treat Holder. Each of the ladies will be receiving a pack containing pre-cut card stock, paper and some printed instructions so that they can still make the project at home.

For my version I used the largest Framelit die and cut two of these out in Baja Breeze. The Island Indigo card stock was also cut using the same die (by putting the card stock accross the die from point to point) and then embossed using the heart folder from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder set.

The holder was stamped in Baja Breeze using the Tiny Tags stamp set.

I wanted to sit the greeting label on another label so decided to make one out of the framelits die. This is a fairly simple process as you will see from the following photos.

Cut out label using chosen Framelit Die and the Big Shot  – you do not have to use such a large piece of DSP. I already had this piece so used it rather than cut some more.

Once first cut is made, move the Framelit Die so that it produces the shape that you want and run it through the Big Shot again

I chose to finish off the Treat Holder by putting a small box inside to hold the gift (in case this some Chocolate Eclair sweets). This was made using the Simply Scored Scoring tool by cutting a piece of card 2 inches wider and longer than the box size wanted and then scoring on all sides at the 1 inch mark. The Simply Scored Scoring Tool makes quick work of making boxes and all sorts of other things, and it is now part of my must have Basic Tool Kit.
