Today I’m taking part in a blog hop sketch challenge with some of the other Crafty Collaborators.

The sketch is one designed by Stefanie Pletscher (AKA the Crafty Medic).

Further down this post you will find the list (with links) of all the others taking part in the blog hop. There’s lots of inspiration to check out, so please do.

I don’t often make slim line cards but thought I’d give it a go. You can find my basic instructions below.

Basic Cutting Instructions for the blog hop sketch challenge

  1. Base card started as a piece of 20.0 x 21.0 cm Thick Basic White cardstock. This has been scored in half at 10.0 cm to give a 10.0 x 21.0 cm card front. Just the right size to fit in a DL sized envelope.
  2. Orchid Oasis panel – 9.5 x 19.5 cm. Top third stamped using Orchid Oasis ink and bottom two thirds embossed.
  3. Basic White panel – 6.0 x 9.5 cm with three pieces of 2.8 x 5.5 cm of double-sided adhered.
  4. Image stamped on scrap Basic White cardstock and coloured using Stampin’ Blends before being fussy cut.
  5. Sentiment stamped onto a piece of 1.5 x 9.5 cm of Basic White.
  6. Both Basic White pieces added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

As you may notice, I’ve gone for a monochrome look for my project.

  1. Really awesome card. Loved the layout and how you used every level to show off the layering. Embossing is beautiful and the monochromatic look is perfect! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks Lorraine, the trick is to hide where they meet with cardstock, paper or ribbon!

    1. Thank you Polly. I think this is a great technique to try on slim-line cards but it works equally well on standard size cards too.

    1. Thanks Mo. The coloured flower turned out a little darker than I thought it would. But, hey I still love it. xx

    1. Thanks Jill. I was a little frightened that it maybe too over the top but I love the finished result.
