Today’s masculine card has been made using both the masking and sponging techniques. A fun card to make because I don’t mind getting inky.

masking & sponging

I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set. A fabulous set to make masculine cards.

Masking & Sponging Technique

  • Start with a piece of Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock. Mine measured 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Fix the card stock down (I used a removable tape runner) to a larger piece of paper such as grid paper . This is because it makes it easier to ensure that the paper used to mask areas are parallel.
  • Use large sticky notes or Washi Tape to mask off the area not to be sponged. I prefer to use large sticky notes because they are easier to peel off without damaging the card stock.
  • Sponge areas using chosen ink and sponges. I used Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue ink pads.
  • Remove the sticky notes and then stamp the required image(s). I used Tuxedo Black and the single Conifer Tree from Rooted in Nature.

The finished sponged and stamped Whisper White card stock was glued to a 10.0 x 14.4 cm piece of Basic Black before it was fixed to the card front with dimensionals.

The sentiment has been stamped in Balmy Blue and then cut out before being adhered to the card front.

I didn’t forget the inside of the card or the envelope either.
