Today I’m featuring a Chevron Card made using Bird Ballad double sided paper. I wanted to try something new to me, and found this technique on Pinterest. I think it’s been around for some time so some of you may already know how to do it.

The whole technique is based around cutting paper into strips and then folding them.  I found that you need one side of the paper to have a pattern which is not an image. This is the side that is on the bottom of the strip. When you fold both the ends of each strip it becomes the one you see the most of.

To make the pieces for the chevron

  • Cut paper into strips measuring 2.0 x 5.5 cm. The length needs to be 2.5 times the width so you can adjust theses measurements to suit your requirement. I cut eight pieces.
  • Fold the strips as follows – you will need the same number of each
    • Left corner up – right corner down. This forms diagonal fold both at ends.
    • Left corner down – right corner up. This forms diagonal folds both ends.

Glue the strips of paper – alternating each type so that the folded down ends are butted together. This will create the chevron.

For my Chevron Card

  • The strips of paper have been glued to a 5.0 x 14.4 cm piece of Petal Pink card stock.
  • One edge of the card stock has been  embossed using the long edgelit die from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
  • The Pool Party card stock has been embossed using the new Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder.  I love the detail on it.
  • A sentiment from the Free As A Bird stamp set, stamped in Tuxedo Black was then cut out using a Stitched Nested Label Die.
  • A larger Stitched Nested Label Die was then used to cut a larger piece of Whisper White card stock.
