Hello and welcome to Simple Stamping Saturdays No.4. Today I am sharing a valentines card made using the Geared Up Garage stamp set.
For those of you wondering what simple stamping is all about it’s basically just that. Not everyone knows where to start when it comes to stamping. My aim with this series, is to showcase simple but effective cards made using just stamps, ink and paper. This week I’m throwing in a punch (figuratively speaking) for good measure.
The Classic Garage stamp set is not a stamp set that springs to mind when thinking about Valentines. It’s all about cars, nuts, oil cans and tool boxes. It’s most certainly not about hearts and love but that’s one of the fun things with stamping – using the non obvious.
I used Real Red and Jet Black Stazon to stamp the images onto Whisper White Notecards (and the envelopes too). Stamp the oil patch three times in Real Red and then the nuts in the Jet Black Stazon.
Both cards are pretty much the same but I reversed out the label under the sentiment. The label was easy to make using the Pretty Label Punch. I’ve added some pictures at the end of this post showing you how the label was made. In the meantime, here’s a closer look at one of the cards.
The inside of the notecard and the envelope were stamped too.
Alternative ways to use your punches
As promised, here are a couple of photos showing how the label and sentiment were made.
- Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and then punch out using the Pretty Label Punch. You need to ensure that the sentiment sits in the narrower portion of the label.
- Punch out a Real Red and Basic Black label using the Pretty Label Punch.
- Cut up the labels as per the following photo.
- Discard the top pieces from the Whisper White and Real Red labels.
- Glue the half portions of the Real Red label behind the Whisper White sentiment so that a small portion of the Real Red is sticking out of both ends.
- Adhere the Whisper White/Real Red label to the Basic Black label using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I’ll be sharing stepped up versions of the card later in the week. In the meantime, check out my supplies list below to find out in more detail the products I’ve used. Clicking on the pictures will take you to my online shop.
Happy stamping.
