For the second challenge of November, Patricia has a sketch for us to try that involves a scallop edge card. I have to admit that I am distinctly lacking when it comes to scallop edging.  As a result,  I turned to my Petals & More Thinlits (using the long thinlit die) and used them with the Wishing You Well stamp set.

Here’s Patricia’s sketch.

And here is my card.

Scallop edge card made using the Wishing You Well stamp set and the Petals & More Thinlits.

The inside was decorated using the same image and colours but I did not add a second layer to the bow.

Instructions for my scallop edge card are as follows

Cutting instructions

  • Balmy Blue cardstock – 10.5 x 29.7 cm scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm to create the base card.
  • Whisper White cardstock – 10.5 x 10.0 cm (card front), 10.5 x 4.0 cm (for the scallop edge) and a scrap for stamping the bow.
  • Whisper White cardstock – 10.0 x 14.4 cm for inside panel.

Stamping and construction instructions

  1. Using Crumb Cake ink, stamp the bouquet/stems onto in the middle of the 10.5 x 10.0 cm piece of Whisper White.
  2. Stamp flowers in Balmy Blue and Night of Navy over the Crumb Cake bouquet.
  3. Stamp a Night of Navy bow onto the bouquet. Re-ink and stamp again onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.
  4. Fussy cut out part of the bow from the scrap cardstock. Then, adhere in the centre (knot image) using Mini Glue Dots to the stamped image on the larger piece of Whisper White.
  5. Using the long Thinlit (has points on each end). Die cut the edging. To do this, only place your Big Shot Clear Cutting Plate over 3/4 of the die. Run through the Big Shot. Move the die so that it covers the rest of the 10.5 cm. You can match up the die  quite easily. Then, run through the Big Shot.
  6. Adhere edging to the back of the 10.5 x 10.0 cm stamped panel so that just the bottom line can be seen from the front.
  7. Fix the 10.5 x 10.0 cm piece of Whisper White to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  8. Stamp 10.0 x 14.4 cm panel of Whisper White to match the front.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my card and that it has given you some ideas and inspired you to give the challenge a go. You will find the link to add your card along with pictures of all the other design team members cards over on the CC&S blog. Deadline for adding the link to your card is 11.00 pm (UK time) on Monday, 19 November.

Happy stamping.

  1. I love the monochromatic blues paired with Crumb Cake! The dainty lacy scallops coordinate well with the pretty bouquet. It’s a gorgeous card, one of my favorites that you’ve made! 🙂
