Welcome to November and this month it is Samantha’s turn to host the CAS Colours & Sketches challenges.
To start the month she has a colour challenge for us.

I’m afraid I went with the obvious this week – Christmas! The question was whether I should heat emboss or not for the Metallic Silver element? In the end I did both.

The top card has the sentiment embossed using Silver Embossing Powder, and I also added a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper.

I used the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set for both cards. The stamp set does have holly berries (hence the name) that can be stamped but seeing as there is no red in this week’s colour challenge I couldn’t add them that way. I think I managed to get away without them on the card above, but the one below needed something so I punched small circles from some Silver Foil scraps and added them.
The holly leaves on both cards were coloured using different techniques.
  • The card above uses a stamped image and I stamped off the Emerald Envy before stamping over the outlined image.
  • The card below was coloured using a Blender Pen and I simply picked up the colour from the lid of the Emerald Envy ink pad.

This second card has the centre image matted onto a piece of Silver Foil Sheet  and I then simply stamped the sentiment in Tranquil Tide to co-ordinate with the card base.

All in all two fairly quick and easy cards.

I hope you feel inspired to give the challenge a go and of course please take time to jump over the the CAS Colours & Sketches Blog to see what other members of the design team have made.
