Today there was supposed to be a Global Stampers blog swap, but after some discussion between us we have agreed to move all future swaps to the first Sunday of each month. This means giving this month a miss. We will be back on 7 May with some exciting 2017-2019 In Colors and Eastern Palace Suite sneak peeks.
This month we were going to feature projects made using some of the retiring Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I chose the Pop of Pink DSP.
Seeing as I had already made my projects before we made the decision to change the day, I thought I’d share them with you today anyway.
Here’s what I made.
The card is a very simple gate fold. They are fun cards to make and you can change the look by simply changing the closure or medallion on the front.
I made the closure for this card using the square dies from the Stitch Shapes Framelits and also the Flower Shop stamp set and co-ordinating Pansy Punch. I used three different sized square dies, and scraps pieces of Basic Black and Melon Mambo cardstock. The two larger dies were used at the same time on the piece of Basic Black and the smaller die on the Melon Mambo. By using two dies at one time I was able to make a frame and square inner piece. I glued the frame to the left-hand side (only glue half of the frame) and then with the card closed I glued the black square to the right-hand side (again remember to only glue half). The trick is to place the square inside the frame when the card is closed to ensure that you get the right placement.
Of course, this technique can be used with any shaped layering dies so if you have some I hope you give it a go. If you don’t then pop over to my Online Shop and take a look at what Stampin’ Up! have to offer.
Details of the products used for the card are as follows:
If you are interested in other suitable dies then you have these to choose from
Please note that the Stars Framelits Dies are on the Retirement List and will not be available after 31 May. They are currently available at the discounted price of £16.80.
If your order is less than £150, don’t forget to add the Monthly Code before you check out and I’ll send you a little extra thank you next month.
