A little bit about me – I am a fifty something mother of two (both in their early 20’s), and I’ve been married to my best friend, George, for 30+ years. I live in Wokingham, Berkshire (UK) with George and our dog, Kylo.
Stampin’ Up! and me
In early 2001, I moved to San Diego (CA, USA), and went to a card making class where I was introduced to Stampin’ Up! by a friend of a friend. It really was a case of love at the first stamp. What’s more, I still have the first ever Stampin’ Up! stamp set that I bought. Returning to the UK in 2006, life became complicated. There was no time to craft, and the stash that I brought back from the USA sat unused on the shelf.
By the end of 2010 I had a little more time for myself, and in early 2011 I went to a local craft show (Make It, in Farnborough). Lo and beyond there was a Stampin’ Up! stand at the show. A couple of months passed, and in May 2011, I decided to join Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator. The original reason for joining was so that I could purchase supplies at a discount for the small monthly class I held for my Mum and her friends. Of course, it also meant that I received the discount on my very large wish list too.
A year later, and with my husband travelling a lot overseas, I took the decision to expand my classes and I also took part in my first major craft show, Make It. Since then, I’ve been on Stampin’ Up! stands at other Make It shows, Sincerely Yours in Bracknell and various shows at the Sandown Racecourse (Esher).
Over the years I have met lots of lovely people. A few have even been tempted to become part of my team, the Crafting Acorns, and you can find out more about joining by clicking here.
My Other Accomplishments
In 2014, I was asked to be a display stamper at a Stampin’ Up! OnStage event (which meant I was given sneak peek goodies to use). Subsequently, in 2016, I did a presentation of a new suite of products to over 400 demonstrators at another Stampin’ Up! OnStage event.
Last year I was one of 20 UK demonstrators who earned the Incentive Trip to Alaska, and we will be heading there later in July.
Participant in the Global Stampers Blog Hop. This is a group of demonstrators from around the world (Australia, France, New Zealand and the USA) and we have a blog hop on the first Sunday of each month.
Design Team Member for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge Blog. A new challenge goes live each Tuesday. I hosted all of March’s challenges and I’ll have a couple more challenges to host later in the year.
