It’s Tuesday, so time for the latest CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge. The post has gone live here in the UK at a slightly different and earlier time this week (and next). This because the clocks in the USA went forward an hour this past weekend but ours don’t change until later this month (25 March).
Being the second Tuesday of the month means that it’s time for a sketch challenge and this is what I came up with.
Despite the fact that I came up with the sketch it did give me a little bit of a problem when it came to designing something!! Eventually this is what I made.
It’s not quite as clean and simple as normal, but my first efforts where far too simple for my liking and needed a little something extra. Hopefully I’ve not gone too over the top with it.
I had the Petal Palette stamp set sitting on the table because it’s the set being used at the Retreat next weekend, so I thought I’d go with it.
- The card base started as a piece of 10.5 x 29.7 cm Rich Razzleberry which I scored and folded at 14.9 cm.
- Next I glued a piece of 10.0 x 14.4 cm Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper to it.
- A piece of Whisper White measuring 10.0 x 14.4 cm had the diagonally opposite corners cut off. To do this I simply measured 4.5 cm from the corner on both the horizontal and vertical edges marked the cardstock with my pencil and then used my trimmer.
- Using a scrap piece of Rich Razzleberry I punched a strip using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I then glued the strip to the back of the Whisper White so that only the tiny scallops showed.
- I stamped the branch in Old Olive – stamping off first and then stamping a second time without re-inking the stamp. The sentiment was then stamped over the top in Rich Razzleberry.
- The Whisper White panel was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Lastly, I added some Iridescent Sequins – I carefully picked out Pool Party ones to add a little more interest to the card.
Of course the inside of the card was decorated too. I added a strip of designer series paper to which I’d added a scallop ribbon made using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch.
I also added another sentiment to tie in with the one on the front of the card. I’m not normally one for stamping sentiments in my cards, but I thought that this would make a great card for a wedding or anniversary.
