So Christmas is over for another year.  There’s no been no rest in our house the last few days because we have been celebrating birthdays as well as Christmas. My mother celebrated her 83rd birthday on 24 December, my daughter Jenny celebrated her 25th birthday yesterday (25 December) and if my father was still alive he would have been celebrating his 87th birthday today (26 December). With all the celebrations going on I have somehow managed to sneak off and finish off my project for this month’s Alaska Achievers Global Blog Hop and write this too!

It’s been pouring down with rain here in the UK and I really wish I was in sunnier climes. With that in mind I decided to make a beach themed card to cheer myself up.

Alaska Achievers blog hop, Waterfront, Fun Fold, Tutti-frutti
This is the first project I’ve made using this stamp set and I now have lots of other ideas spinning around in my head.
This gate fold card has to be the easiest of fun fold cards you can make. Made even easier by the Simply Scored Metric Scoring Plate that I have on my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. There’s a score line right at 5.25 cm so there’s no need to guess.  Starting with a 21.0 cm x 14.9 cm piece of cardstock and with the 21.0 cm along the top, you simply score at both ends at 5.25 cm (do one end first and then turn the paper 180° to score the other end).

In addition to the designer series paper on the front I also stamped an scene using four of the stamps from the stamp set.
  • Palm tree trunks – Soft Suede
  • Palm leaves – Lemon Lime Twist
  • Beach – Peekaboo Peach
  • Sea – Pool Party (stamped a couple of times)
The three layers of cardstock were cut with a mixture of Stitched Shapes and Layering Squares Framelits.
Of course the inside of the card has to be decorated too. I don’t usually add a sentiment to the inside of a card, but this one is designed to go with the sentiment that I added to the front. The scene uses all the colours mentioned about but I added a Bermuda Bay beach hut too.
As always, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. Details of all the other participants in the blog hop are as follows, so have fun checking out all the other projects.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you pop back again sometime soon.
