On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s of the month I hold at Card & A Cuppa event at the Grange Chocolate Cafe in the Holme Grange Craft Village (about a 5 minute drive from where I live).

This is a drop in event and no pre-booking is required. This can be a little scary at times because I never know how many packs I need to make and take with me. I’ve had as many as 12 people turn up but typically there are 5-7 people.

The last couple of events have featured Christmas Cards and these are the samples that I made for last week’s event.

Snowflake Sentiments, Year of Cheer, Christmas

All three cards are made using exactly the same supplies. Namely –

  • Thick Whisper White base card – 14.9 x 21.0 cm, scored and folded at 10.5 cm.
  • Whisper White cardstock for stamping – 8.0 x 12.9 cm
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 10.5 x 6.1 cm (odd measurement, but I wanted three complete lines of the gold chequer)
  • Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink pads
There was also a strip of the DSP measuring 1.0 x 14.9 cm that was used to decorate the inside of each card.
Everyone one had a choice on
  • whether to make a landscape or portrait card
  • sentiment to use and
  • placement of the DSP
  • rhinestones or no rhinestones
These mean that there are a large number of combinations and looks. These are just three of them.

One tip for the sentiment above is to use Washi Tape over the “From Our Family to Yours” part when inking up the stamp, and remove it before stamping. Then the stamped sentiment will simply say Merry Christmas. I love how you can use little tricks to make stamps work different ways for you.

The next Card & A Cuppa will be on 18 November and if you live in the Wokingham area please feel free to come along and enjoy a relaxing time while making a card. No experience needed.
