It’s the last challenge for November from Samantha, and that means it’s a sketch one.

If you read my post for last week’s challenge you will know that I had to change my project because it met this week’s challenge too (it was my husband’s birthday card) and I didn’t want to spoil the surprise. You can check out the card later in this post.

Luckily, after taking the decision not to use George’s birthday card (for either challenge), I knew what else what I wanted to do for this week’s sketch. The obvious choice is the Floral Statements stamp set. I think the card speaks of “large sentiment”, don’t you?

Challenge, Floral Statements, Stampin' Blends
Here’s a quick peek of the inside.

For the inside I simply used a strip of Washi Tape. Quick and simple but still effective.
The flowers and leaves were coloured using the new Stampin’ Blends in Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive. I also used the Color Lifter to add some highlights to the petals.
There are only two stamps in the set and I made a second card with the other image.

For this card I used both Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends along with the Color Lifter for some highlights. I’ve really taken a liking to the Blends – they are easy to use no matter your artistic level.
As promised, here is the card that I made for George’s birthday.
As I mentioned above, it was made for last week’s colour challenge (Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point). It was only after I had made it that I realised that it also met the rules for this week’s challenge too. Best laid plans and all that.
Please leave a comment and let me know which card you prefer. Then,  head over to the CAS Challenge blog to see what everyone else has been up to.

  1. Oh wow! I hadn't noticed that floral sentiment set in the catalog, but you've done a gorgeous job with it on your two cards here! I especially love the richness of the reds in the "hello" card. I like how you've popped up the word "birthday" on your husband's card – and I hope he had a fabulous birthday!

  2. LOVE these sentiment stamps and you have used them beautifully. A wonderful 'twofer' and I am sure your hubby loved his birthday card too. Hugs Bev x
