I’m so excited to be taking part in this month’s Alaska Achievers Global Blog Hop. Those taking part are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world, who have earned the fabulous Incentive Trip to Alaska in July next year.  This is my first ever Incentive Trip, and I’m already excited about it despite it being 8 months away.
I have to put my hands up and admit that this is actually the second blog hop. I missed the boat on the first one (pardon the pun because the trip is a cruise) because it clashed with another post. But I’m here now.

There’s no set theme for the hop. It’s a case of anything goes, so long as it’s current (or new) of course. The 2018 Spring/Summer catalogue will be out in January and I’m sure that there will be some people on this hop featuring some of the new items. I’m also sure that there will be people with projects for the Christmas season. Me, I decided to go for something different.

One of the things I would love to see in Alaska are some polar bears. I know the chance of that is totally impossible because the cruise is not going north enough. Even so, I can but dream and this was the inspiration for my card.

Stamp' Up!, Animal cards, A Little Wild, Stampin' Blends

The bears were stamped using one of the images from the A Little Wild stamp set. All of the animal stamps have a double image on them – a front and rear.

The bear also has a cute little honey bee on it. I didn’t want this part of the image so I masked it off with some Washi Tape before inking up the stamp. You can see in the photo above that I managed to forget to on one of the images, but for the purpose of the card it didn’t matter (he is the one tucked behind the bank of snow).
The three animal images in the stamp set have co-ordinating dies which cuts the images into tags. Of course there is no reason why they have to be used as a tag. You simply cut the images apart and then cut off the tab for the thread/ribbon.

Did you know that Polar bears are not white? In fact, their fur is colourless and the white is a result of light reflecting off the air pockets in the fur. Some bears even look yellow or light brown, so I coloured my bears using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends and then used the Color Lifter to blend and lighten the shading.
The sentiment on the card comes from the same stamp set and has a second line. I’m not one of those people brave enough to cut up my rubber stamps (and yes some people do it), so once again the Washi Tape came out for a little masking.
Thank you for joining us on today’s blog hop. I hope you like the card I’ve shared, but don’t forget,  you can visit all the others taking part by clicking on the links below.
