When we lived in the USA one of the few halloween sweets that I liked was the Candy Corn Candy. To be honest, and listening to comments from American friends, I think it’s a bit like Marmite here in the UK – you either love it or hate it.

My husband recently returned from a trip to the USA and to my surprise he brought back a couple of bags of Candy Corn Candy with him. We don’t celebrate Halloween here in the UK, mainly because the kids are too old, but I knew what I was going to do with all the candy. This past Friday evening was a team training event, and as I usually like to give a little gift I thought I’d use it for that.

Here’s what I made.

Gifts, Halloween, Team Gifts, Stampin Up
These were really quick and simple to make using the 7.6 x 15.2 cm Gusseted Cellophane Bags. The bags are food safe so they are great for this kind of thing. They would also be great for Wedding Favours or small treat bags for kids parties or craft fairs.

I simply poured some of the candy into each bag and then tied the bag up with a 15.0 cm piece of Crushed Curry Stitched Satin Ribbon. I also added a tag that I’d made.

The “For You” sentiment comes from the Tabs for Everything stamp set. I simply stamped it in Soft Suede onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and then punched it out using the 3/4″ Circle Punch. The Very Vanilla was then added to a 1″ Circle of Crushed Curry and a 1-1/4″ Circle of Cajun Craze, using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I didn’t added each layer in the centre but more to the bottom of each circle. This offset gave the tag a kind of retro feel which I really liked.

The acorn comes from the Painted Harvest stamp set. You stamp the acorn ( I used Cajun Craze) and the cup (Chocolate Chip) separately, but because the stamps are photopolymer so there’s no issue with lining things up. The whole thing was stamped onto some Very Vanilla and punched out using the 1″ Circle Punch.

Holes were punched in both parts of the tag with the 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch and then they were tied together using some Linen Thread.

With the exception of Joe, none of the team were brave enough to try the candy corn that evening. So, I’m still waiting their reports back on whether they liked it or not. I might just do a poll on the team facebook page to find out.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the last day of the Buy 3 get 1 Free offer so don’t miss out.
