Being the second week of the month it’s time for a sketch challenge. This is what Patricia came up with for us to play with.
I decided to kill two birds by using the sketch to make my husband a wedding anniversary card. We will be celebrating our 34th on the 20th of this month.  I’ll be away with him then, with not much time to craft so I’m going to sneak the card into my suitcase.

I used the masking technique to stamp the two larger leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set. Brief instructions are as follows:

  • Start by stamping the oak leaf in Soft Suede onto a piece of 10.0 x 14.4 cm piece of Very Vanilla.
  • Then stamped the leaf again onto a sticky note and cut it out using the co-ordinating framelit from the Leaflet Framelits. The trick is to make sure that some of the sticky part remains on the cut out.
  • Place the sticky note leaf over the oak leaf  (to cover it), and then stamp the second leaf in Crumb Cake.
  • Peel off the sticky note off and you will be left with just the part of the image that went directly onto the cardstock.
  • Stamp a third leaf in Cajun Craze and cut it out using the corresponding framelit.
  • Wrap some Linen Thread around the stalk of the smaller leaf and tie into a bow.
  • Stamp sentiment (mine was from the Best Birds stamp set) in Cajun Craze.
  • Adhere small leaf to the 10.0 x 14.4 cm piece of Very Vanilla so that part is hanging off and then cut off the overhang.
  • Adhere the 10.0 x 14.4 cm piece of Very Vanilla to the card base (10.5 x 29.8 cm piece of Very Vanilla scored and folded at 14.9 cm) using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Of course I’ve stamped the inside of the card and the envelope to match.
I trust you like my project and I hope you give the masking technique a go. Let me know how it goes.
Don’t forget to stop by the CC&S blog to see what everyone else has been up to.

  1. Love the earthy tones and how you have layered the leaves. FAB use of the sketch and I am sure your husband loved the card. Happy Anniversary to you both. Hugs Bev x
