Cathy has a colour challenge for us this week.

For some this reason the colour combination caused me some difficulties and there were quite a few attempts left to one side before I had something that I was happy with.

This card features the stunning rose from the Graceful Garden stamp set.

I did only use the three colours (well Whisper White too) from the challenge. The trellis under the rose is stamped in Powder Pink. I tried a few times to retake a better photo, but they just kept coming out like the one above.

You can see the Powder Pink better in the photo below. It also shows the inside of the card and the envelope too.

Brief instructions for the card are as follows:

  • Night of Navy cardstock measuring 14.9 x 21.0 cm was scored and folded at 10.5 cm to make the base card.
  • A piece of Powder Pink cardstock measuring 14.4 x 10.0 cm was glued to the front of the card.
  • Stamp the trellis from the Graceful Garden stamp set in Powder Pink ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 13.9 x 9.5 cm.
  • Stamp the large rose from the Graceful Garden stamp set in Night of Navy ink over the trellis.
  • Adhere the stamped piece of Whisper White to the card front.
  • Stamp sentiment in Soft Sky and punch it out using a 3/4″ Circle Punch and fix it to the card front using a Stampin’ Dimensional. Add a rhinestone to finish.
  • Stamp small rose from Graceful Garden stamp set in Soft Sky ink onto a 14.4 x 10.0 cm piece of Whisper White and then glue this into the card.
  • Decorate envelope as desired.
Don’t forget to check out the CAS Colours & Sketches blog to see what the other design team members have been up to. You can find the link there to add your card too.
Here’s a quick reminder of the main challenge rules:
Clean & Simple – For our challenges, “Clean and Simple” is defined as “uncluttered, with white or open space, and minimal layers and embellishments”.
Cards Only – We are a card making challenge.  You must create a Clean and Simple styled card showing your own artwork.  Please do not submit scrapbook pages, artists’ trading cards, 3-D items, tags, cards using digital images coloured by computerized methods, etc.
Just the Challenge Colors – For our colour challenges, you must use only the stated challenge colours, plus you may use white, cream, kraft, brown, grey, or black cardstock for card layers and those colours of ink for sentiments and image outlines.  We use Stampin’ Up! colour names for reference.  However, you are welcome to use any companies’ products as long as you match the challenge colours as closely as possible.
Combination Rules – You are welcome to combine our challenge with up to 4 additional challenges, with the following exceptions:  You may not combine our colour challenges with other colour challenges, and you may not combine our sketch challenges with other sketch challenges – because that just doesn’t work very well!  ðŸ˜‰

  1. Love the way you featured the navy and added touches of the other two colors, Fiona. They weren't easy colours for me, either! Hugs, Cathy
