Wow, it’s the last Tuesday in June and we are now almost half way through 2017. How did that happen?

This week’s challenge is from Jane and it’s a sketch one. Sadly, this is the last week that Jane will be on the design team. I will miss her fabulous talent on the blog.

At first I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to use different cardstock or designer series paper for the angled piece across the front. I tried a couple of ideas and then decided on layering cardstock over some designer series paper.

I made the angle in the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock with the aid of my trusty trimmer. Basic instructions are as follows:

The card front measures 10.5 x 14.9 cm. And, I decided that I wanted to have a 2.0 cm gap for the angle. This meant that I started with a mat of 10.0 x 12.4 cm (normally it would be 10.0 x 14.4 cm giving a 0.5 cm border).

With the left-hand side of the mat at the top and the cardstock at an angle I simply cut down the length I wanted. I then turned the cardstock 180°, and with the end of the previous cut in the centre of the cutting groove, I then cut down at another angle. FYI – I did try simply cutting one angle and then simply turning the cardstock but it ended up with one side of the angle being a different width!

The holes were punched using a 1″ circle (punched once) and a 3/4″ circle punch (punched twice)

I hadn’t planned to “fill” the holes with circles, but once I’d finished the card I thought that there was something lacking. I made the circles 1/4″ smaller than each hole and stamped them with the same heart stamp. It doesn’t look that way in the photo though.

I have a second card to share with you. I made both last week’s and this week’s cards at the same time and I obviously had some sort of “brain fart”. Pardon the language. Anyway, for some reason unknown to me I combined both challenges in one card!

I think both work and to be honest I don’t have a favourite. Please leave a comment and let me know which you prefer.

Don’t  forget to pop over to the Case Colours & Sketches blog to see what the other members of the design team have been up to.
