This is my last week as the guest designer on the CAS Colours & Sketches Blog. I’ve certainly had fun these past few weeks, and I hope that you have enjoyed my projects as well as those of the regular designers. They are a very talented bunch of ladies.

This week Bev has another sketch challenge for us.

Sketches are great because you can use whatever colours you like, so you just need to keep within the parameters of the sketch. You can of course switch it to portrait rather than landscape but I decided to keep it as is this time around.
It was tipping down with rain when I was trying to work out what I wanted to use, and believe it or not, that was my inspiration. One of the new sets in the catalogue is called Weather Together and it seemed quite appropriate.
I used Pool Party card stock for the card base. A piece of Whisper White that I had run through my Big Shot using the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, was then layered on top.
I did go a little off piste from the sketch, because I used Perfect Plum banners instead of plain rectangles and I also decided to have them at different lengths. The umbrella canopy and sentiment was stamped in Perfect Plum and the handle in Pool Party to bring everything together.

As always, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

  1. I agree with Patricia – love the embossing folder giving the rainy day feeling. Absolutely lovely. I have that set and have yet to use it – thanks for the inspiration. Thanks so much for joining us as a guest designer, it's been great having you. I hope that we'll see you next (and every) week in the gallery. Liz x

  2. I echo Patricia's opening sentence! The embossing as rain is just a FABulous idea, overall an awesome CAS card. Hugs Bev x

  3. I love how you've used the embossing folder to simulate rain. It's a lovely way to tie into the sentiment and the image! You've been a wonderful guest designer this month, Fiona, and I hope you'll continue to play along in our challenges in the future! 🙂
