I’m probably a little late coming to the party, but I’ve decided that this year I’m going to attempt to take part in a card challenge once a week. I know that there will be weeks when I’m away from home when I fail in this attempt, simply because I won’t have what ever I need to hand, but I’m going to try.

This week I decided to take part in the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge again – the latest one #161 is a colour one.

These colours are a little challenging to me because they are not ones that I use that often. I love Wisteria Wonder and use have it on occassion, but Elegant Eggplant is a different matter.
I’ve been wanting to use my Rose Garden Thinlits Dies for sometime and thought it could be something I could use for this challenge. This is what I came up with.

This is a pretty simple technique. I used the die on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and removed the flower. I then placed a slightly smaller piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock behind it to fill in the gap. The whole thing was then glued to the Wisteria Wonder base card.

I then die cut another rose from a Silver Foil cardstock sheet and carefully glued this in place.

The greeting comes from the co-ordinating Rose Wonder stamp set. I stamped it and the border in Elegant Eggplant onto a piece of Wisteria Wonder and cut it out using another of the dies from the Rose Garden Thinlits.

I did umm and ahh about adding some bling to the greeting but decided against it because it detracted from the silver foil.

The inside is simple – three stamped images of the smaller flower from the stamp set.

Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

  1. Just like Jane, I love the silver foil with the Elegant Eggplant! So classy and elegant (oops, pun not intended). Thanks for joining us again this week at CC&S. Caro x

  2. Fabulous! Love how that die looks in silver with the purple behind. And good on you for using colours out of your comfort zone. Thanks for joining in at CC&S.
