Today’s planning for the blog did not quite go as I had hoped. I’d thought of a great idea and had gone as far as cutting my card when I had one of those doh moments and realised that I did not have my Envelope Punch Board with me. So, back to the drawing board I went and came up with another idea.
This new idea turns out to be much simpler and all you need is your Stampin’ Trimmer, which conveniently has both cutting and scoring blades on it.
These are the two boxes that I ended up making.
They are both the same basic box. Each box was made out of a sheet of cardstock that measures 15.0 cm x 24.0 cm.
The boxes are designed to hold the Stampin’ Up! Notecards and are deep enough to hold four Notecards (with envelopes) in each box. I’ll share the Notecards later in the week.
Both boxes are decorated using the Watercolor Wings stamp set and this time I have used just Lost Lagoon ink for the butterfly wings and some Tuxedo Black for the bodies.
Making the box is pretty simple. These are the basic instructions and scoring measurements that I came up with.
1. Start with a piece of cardstock that measures 15.0 cm x 24.0 cm. (6″ x 9-1/2″)
2. With the 15.0 cm (6″) end at the top, score at 2 cm (7/8″) along the whole length.
3. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees so that the 24.0 cm (9-1/2″) is at the top and score at 9.5 cm, 11.5 cm, 21.0 cm and 23.0 cm (3-3/4″, 4-9/16″, 8-5/16″ and 9-1/8″)
4. Burnish the score lines with a Bone Folder.
5. With the 2 cm (7/8″) score line at the bottom, cut up each of the score lines to the 2cm (7/8″) line.
6. Snip off the small corner piece. You should end up with a piece of card that has score and cut lines like this.
7. Make up the box using Fast Fuse or red sticky tape – a line of either goes on the 1 cm strip that’s to the left of the picture and on the flaps that you fold in to make the base.
The second box shown has a piece punched out of the front, and I used the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch for that. The belly band on that box was made from a piece of Very Vanilla that was 4.0 cm x 28.7 cm (whole length of A4) that I scored at 8.0 cm, 10.0 cm, 19.5 cm and 21.5 cm. The embossed piece of Crumb Cake was 3.5 cm x 9.5 cm.
