I’m not really sure if you would call this a true exploding box as it doesn’t exactly explode. I’ve seen people call it a box in a box and also an origami box. But it’s not really an origami box either as you need to glue it together. Either way, I think it’s cute and thought I’d share it with you today. I did of course also make a card to go with it.

This is the box (on right) and card. The gold doily is the same size on both items. The angle on the card must be
slightly different from the box and that makes them look different.

The box is held shut with some Blackberry Bliss Striped Cotton Ribbon.

The opened box. I opted to decorate the inside too, but you really
don’t need to do that.

I kept the card simple with the same ribbon
and Gold Doily

A quick look at the inside. The greeting comes from
the Happy Happenings stamp set

The box was made from a sheet of 12″ x 12″ Hello Honey card stock and I also used a 12″ x 12″ sheet of the Farmer’s Market Designer Series paper to decorate the box. I simply used my Stampin’ Trimmer to make all the score lines and the cuts for the box, and once I’d figured it out it was easy to put together. I will be writing a tutorial for the box and adding that to my tutorials page in the next couple of weeks. I’ll let you know once the page has been updated.

I used exactly the same colour card stock and designer series paper and I added a Blackberry Bliss scallop circle under the stamped and punched greeting.
