This is the last of this week’s post where I am featuring projects made using the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.

I couple of weeks ago I found a card on Pinterest and what’s more there’s a great YouTube video too. The card was made by Dawn Griffiths over at Dawns Stamping Studio and it was a gate fold card with a flap that folded over the front. I’ve been giving it some thought and this week I decided to give it a go myself.

This is what I came up with.

As mentioned above, the card is a gate fold card with a flap that forms part of the card and folds over the front.  I used the Deco Labels Collection Framelits to make the flap and the additional layers (inside and out).

I decorated the flap (on the front and on the inside) with a butterfly from the Watercolor Wings stamp set and co-ordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits. You can get the Watercolor Wings and Bold Butterfly Framelits individually or as a Bundle. Don’t forget purchasing the Bundle saves you 15%.

I am currently working on a written tutorial for this type of card and I hope to post it next week (probably towards the end).

The butterflies were stamped in Tip Top Taupe, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay. These are three of the colours that co-ordinate with the Cherry on Top DSP.  Tuxedo Black ink was used for the body.

I stamped four of the butterflies (two for the outside and two for the inside).  They were then die cut using the Butterfly Basics and Bold Butterfly dies. The Bold Butterfly dies have the small intricate lacy butterfly and I glued these on top of the plain die cut shape from the Butterfly Basics dies.

As a tip, I’ve found that if you stamp the wings first, cut the butterfly out with the co-ordinating dies and then add the butterfly body that it is easier to make sure that the body goes where it should.

The greeting also comes from the Watercolor Wings stamp set (still trying to keep to one stamp set per project) and of course another butterfly had to be added to the deco label used for the greeting.

Mustn’t forget the envelope too.

Decorating the envelope is a must especially, where butterflies are involved.

Next week I will be featuring more ideas using the Watercolor  Wings stamp set. In the meantime, here’s a list of the supplies I used:
