One of the fab all attendee giveaways at the recent Europe Stampin’ Up! Convention was the Four Feather stamp set. I was really happy (whoop whoop) to receive this, but then Shelli announced that everyone would also be getting the matching framelits too, and the hall erupted into even more cheering.
I for one don’t go to Convention for the free goodies, it’s more about meeting and catching up with old friends and fellow demonstrators and also about swapping ideas. Having said that, I couldn’t wait to try out the stamps and framelits when I got home.
I’m not going to share the contents of the box today, suffice to say that there are more feathery creations inside.
I have to give credit to Joanne James – the Crafty Owl, for the directions to make the box. Her web-site has a useful tool called the Box Buster and on there you can input dimensions to make a box using the Envelope Punch Board.
My finished box measured 11.5 cm x 16.5 cm x 2.0 cm which meant that I started with a 12″x12″ piece of Soft Suede card stock and cut it down to 24.8 cm x 24.8 cm. The first punch and score on the Envelope Punch Board was at 12.8 cm and the second (on the same side) was at 15.6 cm. Once all the box was scored and punched, I cut off one of the smaller points as I wanted to leave this as an open box.
I stamped five feathers (various sizes) in neutral colours – Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake and then cut them out using the matching framelits. They are tied together by a piece of Linen Thread (and also with the help of some glue) and then glued to a greeting stamped in Soft Suede. I was going to stamp all over the Soft Suede box (and may give it a try in the future) but decided that I wanted to show off the feathers themselves. Looking at the photo I probably should have but I’ve run out of time.
