If you are like me and travel a fair amount then getting your regular crafting fix can be quite difficult. I mentioned the other day that I had loaded the trial version of My Digital Studio onto my laptop and enjoyed playing with it so much that I had bought the “currently only available to demo’s upgrade” to the basic package.

I have not completely mastered the software (there is so much you can do) and I will be the first to admit that I am not that computer savvy. In fact, I had to ask my son to show me how to do a “right” click on the lap top as I don’t have a mouse for it.

Anyway, here’s a couple of the projects that I have been working on over the last few days. The first is what would be a 6″ x 6″ card, I am going to have a go at printing it later to see how it turns out “in the flesh”.

The card was fun to make and it is a great way to learn how to add layers and do some basic manipulation. My original card (on the right) did not have a Lucky Limeade base card (yep you can use lots of retired colours on these) so I added one and quickly had to learn how to “send it to the back” as all I was looking at was a green page! The newer version also has some shadowing so that it looks like the centre squares/greeting has been popped up on dimensionals.

The second project is a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page.

I am not completely happy with the scrapbook page (probably could have cropped the larger photo more) and may end up with playing with it some more.

Once I’ve finished a few more pages I am going to find out about having them printed and then add some embellishments. You can add then digitally but I quite like the idea of having a mixed media page (or two).

I have to say that the choice of “stamps”, designer series paper, and colours is fantastic. There is really something for everyone – whether you like simple, classic, grungy or cards/pages with lots and lots of layers.  In case you hadn’t noticed I like to keep mine fairly simple. I can see that MDS will be a great addition to the already fantastic collection of Stampin’ Up! products – watch this space for more information on when it will be available – hopefully very soon.
