I’m sitting here looking at the shelf that has all of George’s birthday cards sitting on it. I have to laugh as there are only two shop bought cards up there, the rest are handmade. What’s so funny I hear you ask? Well, four of them were made by me and the fifth was one I designed for a make & take that was made by my mother! Talk about keeping it in the family.

My Mother-in-law has recently had to move into a residential home as she cannot look after herself anymore and is not able to get out and about. Because of this, she asked me to make a card for George that she could give to him. This I did and then I forgot to take a photo of it! Now that it’s back here sitting on the shelf I have taken the opportunity to take a photo of it, to share it with you.

I used the Gently Falling stamp set. This is a 2 Step Stamping set but I decided to keep it simple and use just the outline stamp.
I used a VersaMark Pad to stamp the images onto a piece of Basic Black card stock and then embossed the images using an old Stampin’ Up! copper coloured embossing powder (now retired – actually it is one I bought when I was living in the USA) that I found when moving my craft room. I also stamped and embossed some additional leaves which I cut around.
Once the images had cooled I cut the piece of Basic Black card stock into three and then matted the three pieces onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. This piece of Whisper White was then matted onto a Whisper White base card. Sorry you can’t see the matting too well from the photo.
The greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and this too was stamped using the VersaMark and then embossed. Once the greeting had been added I then added the additional leaves to give some additional dimension to the card.
I hope you have liked George’s cards that I have shared with you. If you have any questions as to how they were made please let me know. I suspect that I will be adding a Cards for Men class to the list of classes I am planning for next year.

    1. Thanks Dawn. I have often used this to make backgrounds for scrapbooking. Great if you use a 12 x 12 sheet of plain card stock. Stamp your images and then cut/punch etc to make your matts. You should then have enough for a double spread layout. Fiona x
