Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend and that any snow you may have had last week has finally gone away.  We still have a little, but the warmer weather should see if off in the next day or so.  Mind you, anything has to be better than the minus 11 we had one night last week.

Today’s project is a card I made using this month’s technique, Resistance Embossing. I decided that I should make my Mother’s Day card early although I still have to make one for my mother-in-law too.  In fact, this card also has a couple of other techniques too but my favourite of these is the Two Step Stamping that I used on the inside of the card – there is a photo of this too.

The base card is made from Early Espresso card stock.  I decided to use Very Vanilla card stock for the large scallop circle. This gives a softer effect than Whisper White but as you can see it works just as well.  I stamped the large image from the Just Believe stamp set using a VersaMark and then embossed it using Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Very Vanilla card stock was then sponged using a couple of daubers and Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi ink.
Using the smaller image and Early Espresso ink I then added another three stamped images. Once these were dry I wiped the embossed image clean. As you can see the whole image gives the effect that the Early Espresso images are behind the larger embossed image.
To finish the card front I added a stamped greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. This was stamped in Wild Wasabi onto Very Vanilla card stock and then punched out using the Decorative Label punch. A piece of Wild Wasabi card stock was also punched out using the Decorative Label punch and added behind the greeting to make it pop. I also added a small bow made from Very Vanilla 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon and some faux stitching in Marina Mist to tie the whole effect together.

Because the card base is so dark I decided to add a piece of Very Vanilla card inside so that I can write my message. I thought it looked a little bit stark so I also added a stamped image – this time I only inked the stamp once but stamped it onto the card stock three times. That way I have three different shades of the same colour which I think gives a lovely effect.
This is one of my favourite cards that I have made and posted on here, I only hope that my mother will like it too.
