After an exhausting day of crafting with fellow Blue Angels yesterday, we made 16 cards each in 6 hours using the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets that will be available later this month, I decided to take it easy today.  Having said that, I came up with the idea to make my first card of 2012 to be entered into a challenge.

After searching for some inspiration I came across two challenges that I thought I might be able to enter, and I came up with the idea for a card that I thought would meet the criteria of both.

The first challenge is the Simply Stamping Challenge # 41 – Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.  The challenge is to create a project using the colours and at least one Stampin’ Up! image, stamp or designer paper.

The second challenge is the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge # 99–  which is inspired by a photo of some lovely looking cupcakes with pale blue frosting (as they call it in the USA). The challenge is to create a project inspired by the picture, and it could therefore be topic or colour based.

I have had the new Create a Cupcake stamp set sitting on my craft table for a few days so I thought that I could come up with something using the set.

This stamp set is available in the new Spring Mini Catalogue, and there is a matching Builder Punch available too (this is still on my wish list).
Anyway,  here is the card that I came up with.
I used a Pool Party card base and as you can see there is also some Lucky Limeade card stock involved too.  The cupcakes were cut out by hand but as I’ve already mentioned there is a Cupcake Builder Punch designed to match the stamps, which would have made life much simpler.  The sprinkles on the top of the Pink Pirouette frosting on the cupcake were stamped using a Versamark and I then used White Embossing Powder to add texture and detail. Yum – shame it’s not edible.
The Pool Party scallop edge was made using the Dotted Scallop Border Punch (you hide the punched dots under the top card stock) – this gives you a smaller scallop than the Scallop Border Punch.  I love how versatile the Stampin’ Up! products are.

I hope you like the card and I appreciate any comments you leave.

I will be posting sometime in the next week or so, photos and details of the 16 cards that I made yesterday. The cards have been made into 4 Baggie Book sets – 4 cards in each set, showcasing the Sale-a-Bration sets that are available from 24 January.
