This year I did not to make too many New Year resolutions. The plan being to keep them to a few in the vague hope that I will manage to stick to them. I’ve noticed that my past blogs are mostly stamping ideas with very few new techniques, so one of the resolutions I made was to include at least one project/card a month that had at least one new technique on it.
This month I have decided to make a card using mostly punches. This sounds a lot easier than it actually is. I see lots of lovely ideas on the internet but I have to admit that I am not one of those people into punch art where there is a lot of additional cutting involved. Keep it simple as possible is more my kind of thing.
Anyway, when I first saw the new large 2-3/8″ Scallop Punch one of the first things that came to mind was “is it big enough for spirelli?”. I am going to play around more with the punch/spirelli idea later this month but the short answer to my question is yes.
Here is the card that I came up with for my Punches Card. It features the following punches:
2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch
1-1/4″ Circle Punch
1″ Circle Punch
Bird Builder Punch
Scallop Oval Punch
The base matt is made from Daffodil Yellow card stock and the flower/leaves from Calypso Coral, Daffodil Yellow and Lucky Limeade card stock. The stamps used came from the Everything Eleanor, For Everything and the Teeny Tiny sets. I also used some Linen Thread and a yellow brad from the Brights Collection.
