My son is currently living in Chicago and sent me this photo last weekend.

The Chicagoans make a big thing of St Patrick’s Day. They start their celebrations early (the Saturday before) by colouring the Chicago River green (as can be seen from the photo above) using vegetable dye, followed by various large parades around the city. Michael tends to forget that he has an Irish heritage – his paternal grandparents are Irish having moved from Dun Laoghaire to Nottingham back in the early 1960’s.
The photo prompted me to make these cards yesterday. One is being sent to my mother-in-law along with a copy of Michael’s photo.

The card above is a more traditional one. I used the largest heart from the Sealed with Love stamp set and stamped it three times in Emerald Envy. You could fussy cut the hearts out but I cheated by using the die from the Love Notes Framelits and simply snipped off the outer white piece.

I have to admit that the second card is very green! I know a couple of people who really won’t like it because they hate the colour green.

I used an Emerald Envy card base and the medallion is the Sale-A-Bration Make A Medallion stamp set. I used Emerald Envy, Cucumber Crush and Wild Wasabi as the ink colours.

The sentiment that is on both cards comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

Anyway, if you celebrate St Patrick’s Day I hope you have a fun an enjoyable day tomorrow (or weekend).
