Let me show you how to create your own blended background using the Merry Snowflakes Bundle.
I shared two backgrounds in my recent Facebook Live. Both used blending brushes and ink to create the first layer and then two different techniques to create the second layer.
The first thing you need to do is create your own mask. This involves using dies to cut shaped holes in a piece of card stock. It is through these holes that you create the inked background using blending brushes and ink.
I cut a piece of Basic White card stock measuring 10.5 x 14.9 cm (same size as a standard card front) and die-cut the snowflake holes using the Stitched Snowflake Dies.
Before using the mask that I’d created, I placed it over another 10.5 x 14.9 cm piece of card stock and held them in place using Washi Tape.
The colours used to create the background are – Pool Party, Mint Macaron and Coastal Cabana
First Card
The first card used further dies from the Stitched Snowflakes Dies – these particular ones emboss rather than cut. A lovely detail to add to the middle of each inked snowflake.
The Basic White panel was cut down to 9.5 x 13.9 cm and glued to a 10.0 x 14.4 cm panel of Pool Party card before being glued to the Bermuda Bay card front.
Second Card
The second card involves stamping over the blended background images. The coordinating stamps from the Merry Snowflakes stamp set, along with Bermuda Bay ink were used for this.
I managed to get a little extra ink on both the card front and the insert! Luckily the mistakes were easily remedied. The addition of some ribbon on the front hides one mark and I simply turned the card stock over and stamped on the reverse for the inside panel. We all make mistakes and hopefully none of you spotted mine.
The Basic White panel was cut down to 10.0 x 14.4 cm and fixed to the Bermuda Bay card front. I also added three die-cut Bermuda Bay snowflakes.
