Let me show you how to make this cute fun fold Handbag Card. I first shared this on a Facebook Live but here are the details and written cutting and scoring instructions. This card design was shared by Carol on an Acorns Monday Make but I think the original idea came from Sam Calcott of Mixed Up Craft way back in 2019.

Here’s what my finished card looks like.

The card features the Hand-Penned double sided paper
The W fold in the centre helps the card stand up and creates the handbag effect

The basic cutting and scoring instructions are as follows:

Basic Card and outside layers

  1. Pale Papaya Base Card
    1. 5-1/2″ x 10-1/2″.
      • With long side at top, score at 4-1/4″, 5-1/4″ and 6-1/4″
      • Valley fold the score lines at 4-1/4″ and 6-1/4″ and Mountain fold the 5-1/4″ score line
    2. 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.
      • With short side at top, score at 1/2″
      • Fold along the score line to create a thin panel. You will be gluing this thin panel to the inside of one of the larger panels on the other piece of Pale Papaya to create the flap.
    3. Die-cut or punched circle
  2. Hand-Penned double-sided paper
    1. 4″ x 5-1/4″
    2. 2″ x 5-1/4″
    3. Die-cut circle to fit inside the Pale Papaya Circle
  3. Daffodil Delight cardstock – Die-cut circle that the Pale Papaya circle will fit inside

Inside layers

  1. Double-sided paper –
    1. 2 lots of 4″ x 5-1/4″
    2. 2″ x 5-1/4″
    3. A piece for fussy cutting to add to top of Basic White cardstock. This is optional, you may wish to stamp a sentiment instead.
  2. Pale Papaya cardstock – 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″
  3. Basic White cardstock – 2-1/2″ x 4″

My finished card is slightly different from the one shared on the video. Nothing drastic, I simply added another layer of circles to the front because the Daffodil Delight needed toning down.

Here’s the card with are a couple of other cards that I have made. Believe me, once you start making these cards you can’t stop!
