One of the things that I love about the Home to Roost stamp set is that it’s one of those stamp sets that you can use to make a card as simple or stepped up as you like. I shared my Simple Stamping Saturdays cards this past weekend so now it’s the turn of the stepped up versions.

This first card is for someone who has some craft supplies and embellishments and is comfortable cutting their own cardstock and paper. You probably do some crafting at home

Home to Roost - Stepped Up Simple Stamping

I stamped the rooster image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. It was then cut it out using the largest square  from the Stitched Framelits Dies. The image was then coloured using a selection of Stampin’ Blends.

A long piece of Linen Thread was wrapped twice around the Very Vanilla and Early Espresso panels and tied in a bow. The coloured image was then added after mounting it on a square of Early Espresso.

This second card is for someone who has supplies at home and who enjoys trying new techniques and even a bit of fussy cutting.

The simplicity comes from the strips of cardstock used for the background.

For this card, the stitched square was cut first. The wheat was then stamped along with the rooster. In addition, a further  rooster was then stamped onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla and then coloured using Stampin’ Blends. Once coloured the rooster was fussy cut out and then fixed over the image in the wheat.

This third card is for someone who loves to use their Big Shot (or other die cutting machine) and enjoys combining lots of different techniques on the one card.

Home to Roost stepped up simple stamping

This card has quite a bit going on. There’s embossing, masking, colouring, die cutting and some punching too.

The masking technique works really well with the rooster.

What’s more, it is quite an easy technique to try and can be used on all sorts of images where you want to place it in the foreground. Simply

  • Stamp the image where you want it on the cardstock.
  • Stamp image again onto a post-it-note (be sure to get some of the image on the front of the post-it-note so that the sticky part is underneath it).
  • Fussy cut the post-it-note image out and then stick it over the image on the cardstock.
  • Stamp background over the top and then peel the post-it-note mask off.

Don’t forget that you can get the Home to Roost stamp set for free with a £45 spend. Full details of the products I’ve used can be found below and you can add them to your shopping basket by simply clicking on the images.

Happy stamping.
