The Global Stampers have a Christmas theme this month. I came up with the idea of doing some sponging with the Snowfall Thinlits for my project. I got a little messy but it was a lot of fun. Have you ever tried making your own template for sponging? It’s pretty easy to do if you have a suitable die.

There are only 4 of us taking part in the blog hop this month. In a couple of days, some of us are heading off to Florida for the Stampin’ Up! 30th Anniversary. Ann has already left on her trip, so she’s not joining us today.  Valerie and I have already met up a couple of times, but it will be lovely to meet up with some of the other Global Stampers.  The plan is to do so on Wednesday afternoon/evening at the CentreStage event in Epcot. Yep, Stampin’ Up! have treated us to free tickets to the theme park. Can’t wait.

Anyway, here’s my project for this month.

sponging with the Snowfall Thinlits a fun technique to try

A quick look of the inside.

This is how I did my sponging with the Snowfall Thinlits

  • Cut a couple of different sized snowflakes from some scrap Whisper White cardstock.
  • Using a Stampin’ Sponge (I cut my sponge into eighths to make it go further) and a Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad  sponge over the snowflakes onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.
  • Move the snowflakes around the piece of Night of Navy cardstock and sponged a few of each. I was looking for a subtle effect not something too in your face. I think I achieved that.
  • The sponged/inky snowflakes need not go to waste. I glued them inside the card.

Other instructions for the card

  • Thick Whisper White cardstock – 10.5 x 29.7 cm scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm
  • Night of Navy cardstock – 10.0 x 14.4 cm sponged with snowflakes and Night of Navy ink. Adhered to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • White Shimmer Paper – die cut using the long die from the Snowfall Thinlits and added to Night of Navy cardstock using cut up Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Night of Navy scrap – die cut small snowflake and glue to centre of large snowflake on the string of snowflakes.
  • Add rhinestones to each of the Shimmer White snowflakes and a few of the sponged snowflakes too.
  • Glue sponged/inky snowflakes onto the the inside of the card once they are dry.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my project. Don’t forget to hop around and visit the others.
