It’s the second Tuesday of the month and this means that Samantha has a sketch for us to try. My first thought was that the circle reminded me of the moon. My mind then sprung to the Dashing Deer stamp set and coordinating Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies. I was lucky to receive both of these when I was on the 2018 Alaska Incentive Trip so I knew I had them.

Here’s Samantha’s sketch.

I turned the sketch 90° and came up with this.

Dashing Deer for CC&S Challege 289 - Fiona Whitten, Oakfield Crafts

The circle is a layer of vellum over the same sized circle of All Is Bright Designer Series Paper (DSP). The DSP has a bokeh effect which, sadly, does not show up on the photo.

Instructions on how to make this Dashing Deer card

  • Crumb Cakecard base – 10.5 x 29.7 cm scored and folded at 14.9 cm
  • Very Vanilla panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm stamped with sentiment in Crumb Cake and then glued to the card front.
  • Large Circles – Use the largest circle from the Layering Circles Dies to cut a piece of Vellum and All Is Bright Designer Series Paper(DSP). Glued DSP to card front and then glue the Vellum to that. Make sure that you only glue the vellum behind where the deer will be placed.
  • Gold Foil – Die cut the prancing deer and two of the flowers from the Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies and add them over the vellum circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Very Vanilla inside – 10.0 x 14.4 cm. Stamp bottom right corner  using images from the Dashing Deer stamp set and Crumb Cake ink. Glue inside the card.

I hope my card has inspired you to give the challenge ago. You will find the link to add your card along with pictures of all the other design team members cards over on the CC&S blog. Deadline for adding the link to your card is 11.00 pm (UK time) on Monday, 17 September.

Happy stamping.

Fiona xx
