It’s March and that means it’s Patricia’s turn to host the challenges for the month. For her first one she has a colour challenge for us.
My first thoughts for these colours was “what an elegant combination”. My second thought was “what the heck am I going to do?”
I tried a number of ideas which just didn’t do it for me. The Elegant Eggplant is such a domineering colour that I didn’t want to make it the main one.
My solution was to make Smoky Slate the main colour for my ink and once this was decided the stamp set was obvious.
Yep it’s an elephant! This fab stamp and greeting is from the set called Lucky Elephant.
I stamped the whole of the elephant in Smoky Slate onto the Whisper White and then re-stamped just the rug in Crushed Curry and Elegant Eggplant onto scraps of Whisper White. I fussy cut out the rug parts and then simply glued them straight into the elephant. The Whisper White was then glued straight onto an Elegant Eggplant card base,
A quick sneak peek of the inside.
Just in case you are wondering, I did try my markers to simply colour the elephant and rug, but just wasn’t that happy with it. Markers are a great idea for smaller stamps but even after all the “huffing” I couldn’t get an impression I was happy with.
I hope you like the card, and please feel free to leave a comment to let me know what you think.

I'm amused that we both thought to use elephants for this color challenge! 🙂 Yours is very regal!
Great use of the challenge colours and the stamps you've used are perfect with them. Beautifully CAS card. Hugs Bev x
Wonderful card; perfect image for the colors!
Great use of the colors on the fussy-cut rug you placed on the elephant, Fiona!
I agree about the eggplant being very domineering, but it's an ideal colour for the elephant's saddle though. Fab card!
