With all the excitement of the Olympics this weekend I’ve not had much time to craft. I did however get my Thoughtful Branches stamp set out as I wanted to make a card using just the stamp set.
Please don’t get me wrong, I love the dies, they really are fabulous. But, a few people have said to me that they don’t really do a lot of die-cutting so there’s no point in getting just the stamp set. Oh how wrong they are. Other than the stamp set, inks and cardstock the only other thing that I used to make the card below was a few post-it-notes.
I used Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso and Cucumber Crush inks and also Whisper White, Tip Top Taupe and Delightful Dijon cardstock.
Below is a quick summary of how I stamped the card front. Tips – (i) when making your mask make sure you use the sticky part so that it sticks to the image you are trying to protect and (ii) if you need multiple masks of the same image, stamp on the top sheet but then peel off 2 (or more) sheets and fussy cut them all out at the same time.
- I started by stamping the sentiment and then placed a post-it-note over the top (I had to cut it down to a size that I liked) to mask it.
- Next I stamped the first lot of leaves – making sure that some of the stamp was on the post-it-note.
- I then made some masks (stamped on another post-it-note and then fussy cut out) and placed these over the leaves and stamped the next layer of leaves.
- I then moved the masks around to cover the leaves and stamped the green branches/twigs.
- Lastly, I removed all the post-it-note masks and then adhered the Whisper White cardstock to a piece of Tip Top Taupe cardstock.
- I also used the same technique for the inside of the card as you can see below.
