I held my first two classes of 2014 this past weekend (Friday evening with a repeat on Saturday morning). The theme this month was Birthday’s because the plan was to help people try and get ahead on the birthday card making for the year.
The Designer Series Paper, Birthday Basics, was a great starting point for the design of the cards, so it featured on all of the cards. Everyone got to make all four cards and had fun doing so.
I love the colour combination in the Birthday Basics DSP, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Bermuda Bay and Summer Starfruit. The stamp from the Tag It stamp set (don’t forget that £2.00 from every Tag It stamp set sold goes to the Ronald McDonald House Charity) was inked up using Stampin’ Write Markers. The balloons also have some Dazzling Diamonds on them.
The idea for this one was cased from Connie Babbert of Inspired Treasures. I have used a few different things (paper, greeting and punch) but the fab layout is hers.
On the inside, the sentiment pops out from the flap at the bottom. I got the idea from a Christmas gift card holder that I saw on Pinterest that had been made by Brenda Quintana AKA QBees Quest. I had to change the sizing a little so that it was possible to make two out of one sheet of A4 card stock. Here’s the front.
I used both Gorgeous Grunge and a sentiment from both the Teeny Tiny Sentiments (front) and Bring on the Cake (inside) stamp sets.
I had half a sheet of Gumball Green left which I had used as a demonstration of how to put the card together, so after Saturday’s class had finished I decided to use it up to make another card. This is what I came up with using some of the scraps from the designer series paper.
You can see how the whole thing works in the following photo.
Next month’s classes are only a few weeks away (7th and 8th February) and we are going to be using some of the products from the Spring-Summer Catalogue. Drop me a line if you are interested in attending.
Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the Blog Hop. It should be live by 9.00 am.
