These are the last of the cards that we made at Jade’s the other weekend.
The first one was from Amy, it’s a cute little mini book that you can add photos to and what’s more there are a couple of little pockets that you can put more photos or even money/gift card in. The mini book is made from Lucky Limeade card stock and squares of the Everyday Enchantment paper from Sale-a-Bration. There is also a bit of Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon and a butterfly that was punched of the Everyday Enchantment paper using the Butterfly punch.
This little book looks quite fiddly to make, but it is one of those things that as long as you don’t rush trying to make it then it comes together quite quickly.
The second card is another from Cate. The card base is Wisteria Wonder and the piece across the middle is also Wisteria Wonder that has been stamped in the same colour using a small flower stamp from the Fruits and Flowers stamp set.
The greeting across the middle was stamped using Versamark and then embossed using white embossing powder. The centre of the greeting was coloured in using a Perfect Plum Stampin’ Write Marker. Once the Wisteria Wonder card stock had been stuck to the Whisper White card stock I used a piercing tool and mat to make the two lines of piercings. This was done before the Whisper White was stuck to the Wisteria Wonder card base. Mind you, I only just remembered to do the piercings before sticking the Whisper White down!
This last card is the one that I designed and took with me. The card base is my favourite Soft Suede. I used various pieces of paper from the Spice Cake DSP. I also used the Top Note die to cut out three Top Notes, one in Soft Suede, one in Spice Cake and the other in Very Vanilla.
The Spice Cake Top Note was cut around the perforation so that it would fit perfectly within the Soft Suede top note. The Very Vanilla top note was stuck inside the card once a piece of Spice Cake had been added to the right side and the inside stamped using Soft Suede ink and a small stamp from the Spiced Paisley stamp set. The birthday greeting comes from the Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess Set) and was stamped in Pool Party ink before being punched out using the Scallop Circle punch.
I love the retro 70’s look of the Spice Cake DSP. I’m sure my parents had wallpaper in the same colours and style as the one I have used on the front of the card and there is another that reminds me of a dress my mother used to wear. I must dig out the photo and see if I can make a scrapbook page, as these papers would make a great theme for a page or two.
All very simple but also very stylish. You have actually given me an idea with your butterfly card to use a die cut I have to make holes as it were rather than using the shape I've cut out. http://dawntheconstantcrafter.blogspot.com/
