Restistance Embossing – Sprinkled Expressions

Time is flying by and I can’t believe that January is already over for this year.

As promised, February will feature projects made using the Resistance Embossing technique.

For those of you not familiar with this technique it involves heat embossing an image (using clear or white embossing powder) onto a light coloured piece of card stock and then applying and wiping off darker coloured ink to make the image “pop”. I have found that using clear embossing powder gives the best effect as it is not always possible to get a perfectly white embossed image once a darker colour is applied over the top.  Another trick is to use a clean Versamark pad otherwise the image will take on a slight hue of whatever is on the pad (that’s me talking from experience).

This card was made using one of the sets from this year’s Sale-a-Bration, Sprinkled Expressions. I thought it appropriate because Valentine’s Day is only a couple of weeks away.

The card base is Island Indigo card stock. A piece of Whisper White card stock was stamped with the heart image using a Versamark and then heat embossed using Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Once cool, the whole of the Whisper White card stock was sponged using Sponge Daubers and Rich Razzleberry and Baja Breeze ink. I started with the Rich Razzleberry in the top left corner and finished with the Baja Breeze in the bottom right.  I then wiped the embossed image clean with a clean piece of tissue and as you can see, the Whisper White can be seen clearly through the embossed image.

The Whisper White card stock was matted onto a piece of Pool Party card stock and the whole thing was then stuck onto the Island Indigo card stock.

I punched some Rich Razzleberry hearts using the Owl Builder punch and these were glued onto the card and a Rich Razzleberry line drawn using the thin end of the Stampin’ Write Marker so that the heart looks like a balloon.  I did not have a thin enough piece of ribbon so I fashioned one out of a thin piece of Pool Party card stock. Needs must and all that.

The card was finished off with a Rich Razzleberry stamped message from the same stamp set. I used a Stampin’ Write Marker as I only wanted to stamp part of the sentiment and it was punched out of Pool Party card stock using the Scallop Oval punch.
